Sandy Springs Lantern Parade Wins Tourism Award

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Visit Sandy Springs was honored last month with an award for its wildly popular Take it to the River Lantern parade. The tourism promotion organization was presented with aTop 20 Festival & Event Champion Award by the Southeast Tourism Society inaugural Connections Conference held in Myrtle Beach.

The Lantern Parade, which marched into town on Saturday, April 21, allows adults and children alike to showcase their creativity by illuminating Morgan Falls Overlook Park and the Chattahoochee River with whimsical and beautifully-lit lanterns.

Events considered for the STS Top 20 recognition must be at least three years old and have an attendance of at least 1,000 people. The Lantern Parade has seen steady growth in its attendance since its inception in 2016.
